What
Account approval is the process managers use to review and authorize seller requests for ownership of new or challenged accounts. When sellers identify a Lead that should become an Account - or when ownership needs to be clarified - the approval step ensures accuracy and fairness in account assignment.
From your Dashboard – Market view, you’ll see an “Approve Account Requests” alert under Next Steps. This opens a list of pending requests, each with details about the account, its current status, and the requesting Account Executive.
As a manager, you have four choices for each request:
Approve – Confirm the AE’s ownership of the account.
Cancel – Reject the request.
Transfer – Reassign the account to another AE using the dropdown menu.
No Response – Leave the request unaddressed (not recommended for timely coaching and clarity).
You may also apply bulk approval using the “Approve All Accounts on This Page” option.
Why
Account approvals matter because they directly support Strategic Account Management (SAM).
Clarity & Accountability: Approvals prevent “account parking” by ensuring every approved account is actively worked by the right seller.
Coaching Opportunity: Reviewing requests allows managers to discuss pipeline development with sellers, especially around converting Leads into Accounts after meaningful engagement.
Market Organization: Clear account ownership reduces disputes between sellers and keeps teams aligned on who is responsible for each relationship.
Efficiency in One-on-Ones: With approved accounts in place, managers can spend time on strategy and coaching rather than administrative cleanup.
Approvals are not just about clicking a button, they are a management control point that reinforces discipline, focus, and growth across your market.
